Tate's Halloween Birthday Party

It's been so long since Big Guy has posted to his blog that he had a hard time finding any pictures that would tell the story of Tate's first birthday party.

But then he remembered that JJ's fellow bloggers don't pay attention to the subject of her pictures but instead they search the background to see if she's made the bed, washed the clothes, done the dishes, etc. So maybe they will find these pictures interesting! (click on picture to enlarge)

Who says it has to be difficult? Chapter 2

With all the discussions about JJ's day today, it's obviously time for another edition of "Parenting - Who says it has to be difficult?"


Last Friday night, Big Guy and Mama Mia got to keep Tate while JJ went to see one of her friends (I think she said her name was Margarita Knight?). This provided Big Guy yet another opportunity to share more Parenting tips with all the moms out there.

Tip 1: When faced with a fussy child, the first thing you need to do is feed them.

Bonus Tip: Pay no attention to the "brain freeze" faces.. they love it!

After dinner, you need to show them where their diapers are in case they need to change them

And before bed of course, you need to give them a bath.

Tip 2: If you use the kitchen sink, you can bathe them while you put up the dinner dishes!

Bonus Tip: DON'T use the side with the garbage disposal!

After the bath, it's off to bed. Big Guy finds that if you wedge their heads between the cushions on the sofa while you watch TV, they will soon drift off.

Tip 3: After the bath, if you put them back in the same outfit they had on, you save money and laundry time!!

Bonus Tip: DON"T try Tip 3 with diapers! Trust me on this one moms!

Early Saturday morning, JJ and Mama Mia went to Arlington for a craft fair which left Big Guy totally in charge! This gave him the opportunity to train Tate how to use Mama Mia's extension arm "grabber":

After a minimum of training, it was off to the pantry to get the Cheerios off the top shelf

Tip 4: Letting them get their own milk out of the refrigerator requires additional training

Finally, as for going to the Kimbell, Big Guy thinks this picture sums up all the culture Tate needs right now!

Politics, sex, and religion

Three subjects to avoid at a cocktail party (or blog) lest you want to start an argument, so Big Guy created a separate blog for posts on those topics!

I chose "Al Bore" for my "persona" at the alternate site and named it

A Convenient Truth

I hope you get the idea. I don't know how often there will be posts to the site (or this site for that matter) but figured I might need another blog (at least until the election is over in November) where I didn't need to worry too much about "Political Correctness".

Check it out for my first post (which I shamelessly stole from an email I got today from my sister (i.e. JJ, Nan, and Middle Daughter's aunt) so how bad can it be?

Vacation's OVER

For those of you who had the summer off for trips to Mexico, parties, and wild living in general (Nan) , Big Guy wants to leave a little reminder of what awaits you in

LESS THAN 3 WEEKS!!

I'm sure the educators out there spotted him immediately but the rest of us might take a little longer to find the teacher's "favorite" in this picture.

You Don't Know Jack

For all of you that think Tate is Big Guy's only grandson, you don't know Jack!

Mama Mia and Big Guy got to keep their other grandson this weekend while his parents (Nan and her husband) went to Dallas. This is a close-up pic of Jack shortly after Nan dropped him off:

This weekend was the first time we've kept Jack for more than just a day since the S.P.C.A. gave us temporary custody last Halloween after the unfortunate "Lobster incident"

Jack is more of a challenge to keep than Tate because:

1. Mama Mia doesn't pay any attention to him (she thinks he's a "Yippy little dog")


2. Which leaves it up to Big Guy to watch him; and


3. He doesn't fall for the "candy in the dog carrier" trick as easily as Tate does.

He demands constant attention. NEVER say B-a-l-l when he is around or you will be forced to play catch with him for hours.

Jack also insists on sleeping in the same bed as Big Guy and Mama Mia. If you get up at 3AM to go to the bathroom, he follows you in there with the ball thinking it's a prime opportunity for playing some more catch.

Nonetheless, Big Guy loves Jack. Every man needs a dog and unlike Big Guy's own dog, Eddie, Jack loves hanging out with Big Guy.

For those unfortunate Dads out there that only have cats (I'm looking at you Bongo), Big Guy wants to provide today's Inspirational Poster. You've always got your son to hang out with.

Parenthood

Mama Mia and Big Guy got to keep Tate all day last Thursday. It was not enough time to undo all the liberal ideas he gets brainwashed with at home but we enjoyed his stay anyway.

Duh, digital cameras weren't around back then. Big Guy had to go to PetSmart and "enlist the help" of two brats who were running around unsupervised in order to provide you with this Inspirational poster to assist you in your child raising.

JJ and Roberino Intervention

Under my Sandcastle post, Sarah commented: "Is that Tate? :c) " Answer: Obviously NOT!

My original intent for this blog was to be a place where you guys could meet the "Real Tate".. One where he had not been overly "sissified" by his Mom or turned into a "NewYork-loving, Cowboy-hating, liberal-reactionary" by his Dad.

Both JJ and Roberino were editors for the Ole Miss "Daily Mississippian". Despite the exciting ad terribly clever name of their paper, they managed to turn it into yet another liberal media outpost to spread their socialist agenda (if you know what I mean. If not, see Sissified and New York Loving above).

Despite my numerous letters to these editors during their time at Ole Miss, I was NEVER published. Enough said about their hidden agenda???

The same censorship continues today with the "To the Moon and Back" blog! You will notice a slide show on the right hand side of my blog. Those are my entries to the "Tate Words" contest. Apparently they were all rejected and instead we get "Gestate". Eeewwwwwww.

So this blog is my intervention attempt to save Tate from a life of embarassment.

Long live the First Amendment!
(2nd Amendment too, but then, that will be the subject of a future post).
